Membership

Membership of the Oculoplastics Association of India

All membership requests are considered only when accompanied by letters of recommendation of two members of the OPAI of good standing who will vouch for the ‘special interest’ of the candidate and his/her proficiency in the specialty. Fellowship or having cleared the AIOS FAICO examination in the speciality are given preference. The membership will be forwarded by the executive committee and approved by the general body meetings only at the annual meeting of OPAI. The membership form is available here. The following types of memberships are currently offered by the association.

Regular Member:

Those who have qualified for the degree of M.B.B.S or equivalent, has enrolled in or has completed post-graduation in ophthalmology or allied specialty and have an interest in the specialty are eligible for regular membership. The fee for life membership for regular members is a one-time payment of Rs. 4000/-

Associate Member:

  • Those who are not eligible under (a) but with special interest in the specialty can be enrolled as associate members.
  • Shall have all rights and privileges of membership except that of voting and holding office.
  • Shall be required to pay all dues and any other assessment.
  • The fee for life membership for associate members is a one-time payment of Rs. 4000/-

Honorary Member:

  • A physician of outstanding calibre shall be elected as Honorary Member at the recommendation of the executive committee and general body.
  • Shall have all rights and privileges of membership except that of voting and holding office.
  • Shall not be required to pay dues or any assessment.

International Member:

  • A physician who is an NRI (Non-Resident Indian) or not a citizen of India but who has equivalent of M.S. or D.N.B. or F.R.C.S. in his area, and who otherwise meets the requirements or membership, shall be designated as International Member.
  • Shall enjoy all the privileges of OPAI except that of voting and holding office.
  • Shall be required to pay all dues and any other assessments.
  • Life membership for International Members is a one-time fee of US $ 100.

Membership Dues:

The fees may be revised as and when deemed necessary by the Executive committee with the approval of the General body Please note that membership fees may be revised from time to time. Please contact the president or executive committee member for current fee structure.

The Oculoplastics Association of India (OPAI) is dedicated to forwarding the cause of oculoplastics across the country. Founded in 1987, OPAI now has over 500 members who are dedicated to oculofacial surgery and disorders of the orbit, eyelids, eye and the lacrimal system. In the past three decades, Ophthalmic plastic surgery has earned its special identity in Indian ophthalmology. The skilled oculoplastic surgeons of the yesteryears nurtured their interest and spread the art to others. Today, this elite group has taken the shape of a healthy organization, the Oculopastics Association of India.
