Raman Mittal Award

Dr Raman Mittal Best Paper Award

Every year, the member whose presentation is adjudged as the ‘Best Original Free Paper in any field of Ophthalmic Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (excluding Orbit and related Oncology and Pathology)’ receives the ‘Raman Mittal Best Paper Award’. Instituted by OPAI, thanks to a donation by Dr Raman Mittal, an Amritsar based oculoplastic surgeon who is an alumnus of LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. He has been the joint secretary of OPAI from 2008 to 2012 and was the organising secretary of the annual OPAI meeting in Amritsar in 2012. The ‘Raman Mittal Award Best Paper Award’ was instituted in 2014.

The guidelines for this award are as follows:

  1. Award will be given for the Best Original Free Paper in any field of Ophthalmic Plastic,

Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (excluding Orbit and related Oncology and Pathology)

  1. Only ratified members of OPAI will be eligible for the award
  2. The award will be given to the presenting author
  3. The award will be presented once a year
  4. The award will be given for the work done in India
  5. The award will carry a Certificate and a Medal
  6. The Certificate shall mention the list of co-authors
  7. The award will not be given to the same person twice

The Oculoplastics Association of India (OPAI) is dedicated to forwarding the cause of oculoplastics across the country. Founded in 1987, OPAI now has over 500 members who are dedicated to oculofacial surgery and disorders of the orbit, eyelids, eye and the lacrimal system. In the past three decades, Ophthalmic plastic surgery has earned its special identity in Indian ophthalmology. The skilled oculoplastic surgeons of the yesteryears nurtured their interest and spread the art to others. Today, this elite group has taken the shape of a healthy organization, the Oculopastics Association of India.
