I am honoured to be serving as the President of OPAI and I am deeply grateful to my predecessors for their leadership and the members of the Executive Committee for their contributions to OPAI, which has collectively propelled the association’s growth to the level it is today. However, there is a true need to accelerate the pace of our work because of the escalating prevalence, complexity and severity of the various orbital and oculoplastic diseases.
As the association that provides direction to individuals engaged in the practise of oculoplasty and orbital disorders, we have an important role to play in laying a course for the future of this discipline. To accomplish this goal it is important to have a functional website as it serves as the face of the society. It is indeed the gateway for interaction between the society office bearers and its members. Furthermore, having an active website with a responsive team adds a lot of credibility to the association as a whole.
This year, the new team, eager to enhance the role of OPAI as a society, has added many new features to the website such as ‘International meetings’; a section dedicated to patients who wish to know more about the specialty and an ‘Awards section’ that recognizes the achievers of our society.
I am sure that the members would appreciate and utilize the website and its resources to the maximum.
